Sweet cherries. Sour ones are vyssino. They make superb spoon sweets (glykó tou koutalioú) and cherry liqueur, Kerasi, partly made with cherry stones and often flavoured with cinnamon.

Some of the best cherries grow around the town of Edessa in Central Macedonia, which holds a cherry festival every June.
