Bonifazio de’ Pitati (or Veronese)

Follower of Palma Vecchio

Adoration of the Magi by Bonifazio de' Pitati

No relation to the better known Veronese, Bonifazio de’ Pitati (1478–1553) was also known as Bonifazio Veronese or just 'Veronese' for his birthplace. He was the most talented follower of Palma Vecchio and the teacher of Jacopo da Bassano. He spent much of his life in Venice, where he ran a large workshop. Stylistically he was inspired by Giorgione, and is said to have been a strong influence on Tintoretto.

His paintings are in the Accademia, Ca' Rezzonico and San Nicolò da Tolentino.
