Venice is a natural film set. How many films have been shot there? More than tongue can tell!
Classics include Summertime with Katherine Hepburn (1955); Luchino Visconti’s Death in Venice (1971); Nicolas Roeg’s Don’t Look Now with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie (1973); two James Bond vehicles, Moonraker (1979) with Roger Moore and Casino Royale (2006) with Daniel Craig; The Comfort of Strangers (1990) with Christopher Walken, Natasha Richardson, Rupert Everett and Helen Mirren; and Woody Allen’s Everyone Says I Love You (1996) with Goldie Hawn and Julia Roberts.
But not Fellini’s Casanova with Donald Sutherland in the lead role (1976)...which was entirely shot in Rome’s Cinecittà.
