On the order of the French amuse-bouche or a tapa: an appetising little mouthful, crackers, nuts, crostini, olives, rustici, or something more elaborate. Many can make up an antipasto platter, a whole range of sfizioserie.
Similar are stuzzicappetito 'appetite teasers' or stuzzicarelli; in Puglia, they are often called scazzecappetit.
