Cornetti, the classic breakfast in central Italy, have the same distinctive shape as French croissants, though they are usually a bit less crispy and sometimes have a chocolate, cream or fruit filling (cornetti ripieni).
In the Veneto, they often call it a curasan.
'Cornetto' is also a brand of frozen ice cream cones in the UK, although an ice cream cone in Italy is a cono gelato.
It's also another name for a string bean in Northern Italy, and for the lucky red pepper of fertility, with its pointy 'horn'.
