Oregano, the essential Greek herb. Greek oregano (Origanum vulgare) is the same as wild marjoram but not the same as Italian oregano (Origanum onites).
Oregano grows on nearly every sunny mountainside in Greece. The word actually means 'joy of the mountain' (ὀρίγανον in ancient Greek). In myth it was created by Aphrodite. It has long been known medicinally, as an anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and antioxidant.
Wise old Greeks like my dad say you should eat some every day.
