Crémant is a quality sparkling wine made like champagne, using the méthode tradionnelle,, which fizzes up the same kind of foam when you pour it into the glass.
Eight wine regions produce crémants that have been designated AOC. Crémant d'Alsace is the most important, producing nearly half of all French crémants: others are Bourgogne, Loire, Jura, Bordeaux, Savoie, and Die (which also produces its unique Clairette de Die) and Limoux, which makes crémant alongside the ancient Blanquette de Limoux.
