Burgundy makes you think of silly things, Bordeaux makes you talk about them, and Champagne makes you do them. Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin
In victory, I deserve it. In defeat, I need it. Winston Churchill
Many regions of France and the world make sparkling wines, and many made it before the development of Champagne (one of the first was Blanquette de Limoux) but none have the cachet of the fizz made northeast of Paris: Dom Pérignon, Krugg, Laurent-Perrier, Mercier, Moët et Chandon, Mumm, Piper-Heidsieck, Taittinger and Veuve Cliquot have the same ring about them as Cartier, Chanel, Dior and Van Cleef & Arpels.
It’s not only thanks to Champagne’s lovely taste and bubbles. It also has a good story and PR.
