Next to nothing is known of the life of Jacopo di Paolo, except that he was active in Bologna between 1371 and 1429, and was influenced by and worked under Giovanni da Modena.
Jacopo painted the two scenes on the Life of Moses in the detached frescoes from Santa Maria di Mezzaratta that are one of the highlights of the Pinacoteca, and he provided various drawings for the decoration of San Petronio, and assisted Giovanni on the Bolognini Chapel frescoes.
