This long quay facing the Canale della Giudecca is named after the wooden rafts that once lined the waterfront, used for unloading timber, salt, building materials and so on. The rafts have been replaced with café and pizzeria platforms built on the water, fine places to linger and watch the vaporetti buzzing like dragonflies between the massive cruise ships and the freighters and tankers ploughing their way to Marghera.
