Also known as fortaie or kiachi, these are Trento's version of Baveria's strauben or American 'funnel cake'—made with butter, flour, eggs, grappa and wine (or beer), then dripped through a funnel into hot oi, into the shape of a cake and covered with powdered sugar or a dollop of marmellata di mirtillo rosso (lingonberry jam).
