Pagellus bogaraveo. Delicious and widespread deep sea fish related to the pandora. It's also known as occhione, occhino or occhiolone, 'big eye' come from its distinctive black spot.
Other names include rovello, pezzogna, pezzonia, mupo, bezugo, pizzornia, pezzornia and mafrone and no doubt many others besides.
