Pappa can be baby food, or any kind of mush.
Usually, it will be classic dish of Tuscan cucina povera, pappa al pomodoro, made with stale, unsalted Tuscan country bread, tomatoes, garlic, basil, broth and olive oil, making a thick pap, as the name implies, although the name actually derives from pappare (to stuff oneself). It's a favourite on hot summer days.
