The Lessini Mountains north of Verona are the cradle of this much-loved DOP cow's milk table cheese. If eaten young, it is sweet and intense (Monte Veronese Latte Intero); the aged Monte Veronese d’Allevo DOP has a more piquant flavour.
The traditional Monte Veronese di malga, aged for two years, is also in the Slow food Presidium.
