Originally a simple Pugliese street food, a small disc of soft pizza dough folded over and filled with tomato and cheese, panzerotti conquered first Italy and then the world. Nowadays the fillings are much more imaginative. You might come across fried panzerotti, or even dessert panzerotti.
Also spelled panzarotti.
