almond-paste biscuits
Fave dei morti (‘broad beans of the dead’) are bean-shaped almond paste biscuits, recalling the Etruscan and Roman custom of eating broad beans at funeral feasts. They come in three colours: white symbolizes birth, pink symbolizes life, and brown death.
