Seppiole or even seppioline are not baby cuttlefish (neonati di seppie), but a small species of cuttlefish, prepared in much the same way as its bigger relative, seppia.
The Sicilians have a special fondness for it and plenty of words for it too: beccaficu, malnascùi, spónce curriénti, siccitéddi, siccitéddi di nunnàta, and capputtédda.
