Historically Liguria isn't known for its red wines (although there are some that have been attraction of late), although local farmers would make their own table wines, using whatever grapes grew well on their land (typically vermentino, lumassina or ormeasco).
The tradition of drinking it in merry quantities with traditional Ligurian dishes and music is kept alive every mid August in the oldest sagra in Liguria, the Sagra di Nostralino, in Ranzi di Pietra Ligure.
