Kínaros
the island with a population of one
After the death of her parents and husband, one woman, Rinió Katsotoúrchi-Thiraíou, holds down the fort on this remote little island east of Amorgós and west of Léros, where more often than not the wind makes it difficult to access the narrow port.
When possible, a boat from Amorgóa brings her supplies. Otherwise the only visitors tend to be fishermen.
