Chocolate and chopped or ground almond fudge balls with a touch of Cointreau or cherry brandy, encased in a hard vanilla icing
It was a treat invented for the visit of Elefthérios Venizélos on the island of Límnos in 1912, when it officially became part of Greece after the Balkan Wars. They still make them in the local shops and are often served at weddings or other special events.
