Finíkia (‘palm trees’) are either dates (the word comes from 'Phoenician'), although these are usually called chourmás, or else a date-shaped cookie suitable for Lent or vegans, made with flour, baking powder, orange juice and oil, baked, then rolled in a mixture of cinnamon, sugar and ground walnuts.
On Sífnos they are made at Christmas and are similar to melomakárona.
