Crunchy Easter butter cookies, formed into logs of dough and twisted into various shapes or letters, although the first ones were probably round (see kouloúri).
They are traditionally flavoured with vanilla, and topped with light glaze and sesame seeds. They are so tasty they are often baked other times of the year, too (they are great with coffee); the Easter ones are expressly known as κουλουράκια Πασχαλινά (koulourákia Paschaliná).
