Pastries, usually stuffed with myzíthra. They can be either sweet and topped with honey, or savoury, with or without herbs, then baked or fried in olive oil. The name comes from the Italian calzone, recalling the days when Crete was occupied by the Venetians.
They come in many shapes, from half moons to 'little lamps' λυχναράκια (lychnarákia) for Easter.
