School shark, tope shark, snapper shark or soupfin shark, which can grow to be 2m long. Greek menus sometimes call it 'red snapper', and it's usually fried and served with skordalia.
Because its liver is high in demand for its extraordinary high levels of vitamin A as well, while others fish for its fins, it is over-fished and currently on Greenpeace's seafood red list.
