Instant ice coffee. The frappé was invented in 1957 at the Thessaloniki International Fair, when an employee of Nestlé, Dimitri Vakondios, couldn’t find any hot water for his usual instant coffee break, so put his coffee into the chocolate milk shaker the company had on exhibit, and hey presto! It's a Greek summer essential, served with milk or in various degrees of sweetness, although these days many Greeks prefer iced cappuccinos.
