Meatballs (the rather fun-to-say name that means little soutzouki). They star in the classic Greek/Turkish dish that the Greeks call σουντζουκάκια σμυρνέικα (soutzoukakia smyrneika) or Smyrna-style meatballs, and the Turks call İzmir köfte.
The meatballs are cooked in a rich tomato sauce flavoured with garlic, cumin and cinnamon, then usually served on pilaf.
