The quatre-quarts or ‘four quarters’ cake, is one of the simplest, made of four ingredients (flour, butter, eggs, and sugar) and baked in a loaf or bundt pan. They are also readily available in the Pâtisseries Industrielles section of the supermarché.
The same batter can be used to make apple cakes, quatre quarts aux pommes, or pear, quatre quarts aux poires, etc.
