The Aréna family were famous 19th-century pâtissieurs in Saint-Junien. In 1908, when baker Paul Aréna won first prize with his almond cake in a national contest, he changed its name from Neva to Aréna.
It’s a secret recipe, made with rice flour, ground almonds, egg whites, butter, sugar and Kirsch.
