The late Florentine-native director Franco Zeffirelli made his name in theatre, opera and cinema, working with the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, Maria Callas, Richard Burton, Pavarotti and Placido Domingo. In 2017 he inaugurated this foundation in the San Firenze complex to pass on everything he has learned.
It includes an international school of the performing arts, extensive archives, concerts in the former oratory, a lovely tea room and a museum with a permanent exhibition of Zeffirelli's work costumes, videos, drawings, photos and paintings of his opera and stage sets and projects that never came to fruition, including a film based on Dante's Inferno.
