Fico stands for Fabbricca Italiana Contadina, or 'Italian Farming Factory' and is nothing less than the world’s first theme park dedicated to food, a €100m+ creation of EATaly, all powered by 44,000 solar panels, the most on any single property in Europe.
The 10ha grounds at the CAAB (Centro Agro Alimentare di Bologna) feature a demonstration organic farm with vegetables, orchards and various breeds of farm animals. Workshops take place every day, designed for all ages, along with plenty of activities for children.
There are virtual-reality experiences, 13 ‘factories’ and five multi-media ‘rides’, restaurants and snack bars, an organic market, a cinema, theatre and a convention centre. And there are specially designed Bianchi tricycles equipped with shopping baskets to help you get around.
