Luogo dato agli spettacoli diurni ('A place for daytime performances'), the Teatro Arena del Sole was originally the cloister of a convent demolished under Napoleon. Afterwards it was used as a venue for outdoor summer performances, and then as a cinema after a roof was built over it in 1916.
In 1984, it was purchased by the comune and made into a theatre, and it's been run since 2015 by the Emilia-Romagna region, with a season running from October to May. It has two venues, a Sala Grande and a Sala Interaction, where monologues and other intimate performances take place.
