Vincenzo Onofri of Bologna (active 1490s-1520s) was part of the generation that made terracotta sculpture an important art form in Emilia, along with Niccolò dell'Arca and others. Little is known about his life.
Onofri's masterpiece is the sculptural group of the Compianto, the 'Lament over the Dead Christ' in the Basilica San Petronio; other works include the tomb of Bishop Cesare, also in San Petronio, sculptures in Santa Maria dei Servi and the Galleria Davia Bargellini. He may also have done the terracotta facade of the Spirito Santo church
