In one of the most inaccessible parts of the mountains, the partigiani set up the ‘Repubblica di Montefiorino’, a free zone that held out for a few months against the Nazis in 1944. In the village of Montefiorino, the Museo della Repubblica di Montefiorino in the medieval castle, tells the whole story with photos, documents and objects from the time.
