North of Modena city centre, this museum is dedicated to presepe or Christmas cribs, something Italians, especially Neapolitans, have loved ever since St Francis invented them. This collection's rarest pieces are some 70 17th- and 18th-century figures made in Naples that may have belonged to the Este Dukes. There are also figures from other parts of Italy and around the world: not to be missed if you're in Modena over the holidays.
