Everything is a mystery, ourselves, and all things both simple and humble.Giorgio Morandi
In 2009, the house where Giorgio Morandi and his three sisters moved after their father's death, and lived together for the rest of their lives, was opened to the public. Along with family furnishings and art, the enigmatic painter's atelier has been restored to its original appearance, with the familiar, almost numinous vases, bottles, shells and other models that featured in most of his 1350 paintings.
The rest of the house has the serenity and minimalist atmosphere you'd expect, while other rooms have been converted into a library and exhibition area with audio visual installations and photos of the famous people Morandi knew.
