Covering 14 hectares, Barcelona's Botanical Garden, were created during the 1992 Olympic Games when the historic botanical gardens nearby were closed during the building of the Anella Olimpica.
Planted with Mediterranean flora from around the region, but also from places that have a Mediterranean climate: parts of California, Australia, Chile, and South Africa. Another section is dedicated to the flora of the Canary Islands.
